Emerging digital platforms like aerial thermal imagery can make invisible heat loss visible. Toronto’s Greenest Neighbourhood pilot sought to develop, test, and evaluate whether this approach could address market barriers and accelerate adoption of low-carbon technologies.

The city engaged Dunsky to explore ways of accelerating energy improvements by combining neighbourhood engagement and advanced infrared imagery (from the heat loss visualization company MyHEAT). We supported the design of three pilots, each combining MyHeat with unique market strategies, and then developed an evaluation framework to guide the City in assessing success.

The pilots will provide insights into the value of combining thermal imagery with traditional approaches, both to assess home energy performance and to engage with consumers and drive home energy improvements.
